Who gets your push notifications, how visitors follow your page, the three ways to send and how the weekly limit per plan works.
With push notifications, you reach people who follow your page directly on their phone – for example when your stream starts, a new product goes online or your shop closes for the holidays. This article covers the basics: who gets push notifications, how they come about and how many you can send.
Who are your followers?
Followers are people who follow one of your pages – in the LinkHarbor app or in the web dashboard. They need a free LinkHarbor account for this. Their e-mail address is not passed on to you. They only receive push notifications through the app.
- Visitors to your page see the “Follow this page” note at the bottom with the “See how it works” button
- Only public, published pages can be followed
- Push notifications arrive on devices that have the LinkHarbor app installed and notifications allowed
- The LinkHarbor app is available for Android and iPhone
- Followers can turn off push for each followed page individually with the bell, or switch it off entirely in the app settings
- Tapping the notification opens your page in the app
Three ways to send a push notification
| Method | For | Recipients |
|---|---|---|
| Manual push notification | A free-form message about a page | Followers of the chosen page |
| Announcement | A product, video, release or event from a catalogue integration | Followers of all pages in the workspace, each device only once |
| Automatic push rule | Events from realtime integrations, such as a stream going live | Followers of all pages in the workspace, each device only once |
Manual notifications and announcements are covered in Sending push notifications and announcements, automatic notifications in Automatic push rules. Only owners and admins can send.
The weekly limit
| Plan | Push notifications per week |
|---|---|
| Creator Free | 1 |
| Creator Pro | 7 |
| Creator Agency | 50 |
| Enterprise | 200 |
The week is rolling: all push notifications of the workspace from the last 7 days count, not per calendar week. The limit is shared by all three methods.
- For manual notifications and announcements, “Push limit reached” appears at the limit and sending is blocked
- Automatic push rules are silently skipped at the limit, without any message to you
The usage meter
In the push history, the send dialog and the “Push rules” tab, a meter shows how much you have used, for example “5 / 7 this week” and “2 remaining”. From 80 % usage, or when only one notification is left, a note appears. When nothing is left, it says “Upgrade for more push notifications”.
