Who can delete a page, what happens to its links, blocks, statistics and handle, and which alternatives to deleting there are.
If you no longer need a page, you can delete it. Only admins and the workspace owner can do this; editors and viewers don't see the button. Before you delete, take a moment to read what happens, because deleting can't be undone in the dashboard.
Delete a page in the pages list
- Open “Pages” in the navigation
- Click “Delete” on the page
- Read the notice and check the handle shown
- Type DELETE into the “Type DELETE to confirm” field
- Click “Delete permanently”
The “Delete permanently” button only becomes active once you've typed DELETE exactly like that, in capitals. Then “Page deleted.” appears.
Delete a page in the settings
Alternatively, open the page in the page editor, “Settings” tab, and click “Delete page”. Confirm the question “Really delete this page and all content permanently?”; here you don't need to type DELETE.
What happens when you delete a page
- The page goes offline immediately
- The page's links, blocks, versions and statistics are no longer available in the dashboard
- The page no longer counts towards your plan's page limit
- There is no trash and no restore in the dashboard
Short links, QR codes or bios that point to the deleted page lead nowhere afterwards. Update them, ideally before you delete.
Alternatives to deleting
Often you don't want to get rid of a page for good, just hide it for a while:
- Make it private
- With the “Private” visibility, the page can only be reached through invite links, and all content is kept. See Visibility.
- Remove it from search
- The “Listed in public search” switch takes the page out of the LinkHarbor app's search. It stays reachable via its address.
- Keep it away from search engines
- “Noindex” in the SEO tab asks search engines not to show the page. See SEO.
- Replace the content
- Instead of creating a new page, you can redesign this one and use it for something else with a new handle.
Pages after a downgrade
If you have more pages after a downgrade than your new plan allows, LinkHarbor doesn't delete anything. The most recently edited pages stay active; the rest are deactivated and go offline. If you upgrade again, they're reactivated automatically. So you don't need to delete anything in this case. More in Cancelling and downgrading.
Delete your account instead of a page?
If you want to leave LinkHarbor altogether, don't delete every page one by one; delete your account instead. This takes all your pages offline. See Delete your account.
